United Iraqi Medical Society Participates in the Closing Ceremony of the Demographic Transition Project in Iraq

The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) participated in the closing ceremony of the Demographic Transition Project in Iraq, which was implemented with funding from the United Kingdom Government and supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Iraqi Ministry of Health, and the Statistics Authority.

The Society’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting national and international efforts aimed at strengthening population and development planning based on evidence and data, as well as advancing policies and programs that respond to demographic changes and the needs of Iraqi society, particularly in the areas of health, population, and sustainable development.

The ceremony represented an important opportunity to review the project’s key achievements and contributions to enhancing the understanding of demographic trends and strengthening cooperation among government institutions, international organizations, and civil society organizations. These efforts contribute to developing more effective approaches to addressing future challenges and transforming them into opportunities for development.

The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development affirmed that its participation in this event is consistent with its humanitarian, developmental, and health mission, as well as its belief in the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in supporting Iraq’s national priorities, enhancing the quality of health and social services, and enabling different segments of society to benefit from more inclusive and sustainable development programs.

The Society also expressed its appreciation to the United Kingdom Government, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health, and the Statistics Authority for their support and cooperation, which contributed to the successful implementation of the project and the achievement of its objectives. UIMS reaffirmed its readiness to continue collaborating with national and international partners on initiatives that serve Iraqi society and advance sustainable development pathways.
