summary:

The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development  (UIMS)  is one of the active civil society organizations in Iraq. It is a non-governmental organization that deals with humanitarian, health, relief, development and charitable issues, regardless of race, color, religion and culture. It is officially registered in the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations – General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers under No. (IZ 1615) dated 11/27/2012. It obtained the status of public benefit on 10/3/2016 according to the Iraqi Council of Ministers Resolution No. 263 of 2016.

Since the establishment of our organization on 05/21/2003 and as a result of the circumstances that Iraq has gone through, our organization has provided a lot of humanitarian aid and contributed to supporting health institutions with basic needs, medical supplies and medicines for families affected, displaced and returning as a result of wars and disasters.

Tasks:

  • Ensuring the delivery of medical aid to all government hospitals, medical centers and other medical institutions.
  • Ensures the distribution of humanitarian and relief aid such as food and life necessities to the poor, destitute, needy, displaced and displaced.
  • Helping those affected by the war by coordinating with governments and hospitals in Arab and friendly countries.
  • Coordination with charitable, humanitarian and relief organizations as well as field hospitals by signing joint cooperation agreements with them.
  • Rehabilitation in government hospitals and clinics in Baghdad and other governorates.
  • Effective contribution to the preparation and implementation of development projects in Iraq.
  • Signing memoranda of cooperation and contracts with United Nations organizations, international organizations, governmental organizations and international institutions in the field of relief and development.

The organization’s board consists of five members and many working cadres in addition to volunteers. The organization consists of the following departments:

The most important activities:

  1. Establishing and managing primary health care centers, reproductive health clinics, maternity wards, psychological support and women’s protection centers, mobile medical clinics, mobile medical teams, expanded immunization centers, and mobile hospitals.
  2. Establishing 56 integrated caravan schools containing 16 air-conditioned classrooms equipped with electric generators, in addition to administration units and health complexes.
  3. Distributing thousands of integrated food baskets containing essential food items for the Iraqi family, including displaced persons, returnees, and low-income people, in light of the Corona pandemic.
  4. Equipping the camps of the displaced brothers with giant electric generators.
  5. Preparing water pumps for the Ramadi District Sewerage Department in Anbar Governorate.
  6. Equipping and operating drinking water filtration and purification stations in the camps of the displaced brothers.
  7. Distribution of hygiene materials and dignity kits in displacement camps.
  8. Sponsoring 2000 orphans in four governorates (Baghdad – Anbar – Salah al-Din – Nineveh).
  9. Empowering and caring for 2,500 displaced widows in five governorates (Baghdad – Diyala – Anbar – Salah al-Din – Nineveh).
  1. Three water and sanitation projects.
  2. Distribution of oil heaters in addition to white oil.
  3. Distributing air coolers and fans, in addition to winter jackets and blankets, at the beginning of the winter and summer seasons to our displaced brothers.
  4. Distributing Eid sacrifices to the poor, the needy, the displaced and the returnees.
  5. Distributing school bags and stationery to our students in displacement camps.
  6. Distribution of blankets to returnees from displacement
  7. Distribution of thousands of integrated food baskets to low-income families in light of the Corona pandemic
  8. Launching major awareness campaigns in partnership with international organizations specialized in preventing the Corona virus and similar organizations specialized in increasing awareness among citizens in order to take the Corona virus vaccine
  9. Holding many large sessions, especially for ministries, medical and youth workshops, in cooperation with international organizations.
  10. Operating mobile medical clinics and mobile hospitals of our organization in places that need primary health care, in cooperation with health departments and international organizations.

The provision of health, relief, development, educational and other services continues to this day.
