About UIMS:
The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) is a leading non-governmental organization in Iraq, dedicated to providing humanitarian, health, relief, and development services, regardless of race, color, religion, or cultural background. Established in 2003 and officially registered under the NGO Directorate of the General Secretariat for the Council of Ministers (Registration No: IZ1615), UIMS has played a pivotal role in supporting communities affected by war and disasters. Over the years, UIMS has partnered with international organizations, including UNHCR, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, OCHA, and UNDP, to expand its impact both inside and outside Iraq.


Role Overview:
UIMS is seeking a dynamic and motivated Fundraising Manager to enhance its non-profit revenue streams and broaden its donor base. Reporting directly to the UIMS Directors and the President, the Fundraising Manager will identify and secure funding, develop relationships with donors, and support the organization’s strategic growth.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, operational efficiency, and the ability to represent UIMS externally. They will also play a vital role in the development, execution, and management of UIMS’ annual fundraising plan, helping to ensure sustainable funding for future initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy and Donor Engagement:

  • Research and identify new funding opportunities globally.
  • Lead proposal development and submission, tracking follow-up actions with donors.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and potential donors to expand funding streams.
  • Collaborate with UIMS staff to align donor engagement with the organization’s activities at the global, national, and local levels.
  • Manage the development and execution of an annual fundraising plan.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop a 3-5 year fundraising strategy that diversifies income streams.

Technical and Administrative Duties:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with funders, ensuring continuous communication.
  • Draft project proposals and assist in budget preparations.
  • Provide procurement and administrative support during final funding negotiations.
  • Deepen engagement with current partners and donors through direct communication or by supporting internal coordination.
  • Provide internal training on fundraising best practices across the organization.
  • Establish and manage a CRM system to track and cultivate donor relationships.
  • Oversee donor reporting and coordinate renewal processes to ensure continuity of funding.

Organizational and General Responsibilities:

  • Implement effective systems for tracking fundraising activities, aligned with UIMS operational policies.
  • Support the development and execution of UIMS’ overall strategy.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols and UIMS policies in all activities.
  • Participate in performance reviews and actively engage in professional development.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required by the organization.

Person Specification:

Essential Experience:

  • Proven track record in developing successful fundraising proposals.
  • Experience in international development or humanitarian sectors.
  • Strong networking and corporate partnership development experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with a history of managing donor relations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels.
  • Strong financial and budgeting acumen.
  • Ability to present and interpret complex information to stakeholders.
  • Excellent research skills, including identifying and monitoring potential funding sources.

Education and Knowledge:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field, with a focus on strong written communication.
  • Thorough understanding of institutional, trust, and statutory fundraising.
  • Good knowledge of the US fundraising landscape is a plus.

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with precision.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
