⭕Project “Return with Hope” in Iraq

Launching the “Return with Hope” Project to Support Iraqi Returnees from Al-Hol Camp
As a strategic step to promote social reconciliation and facilitate the reintegration of Iraqi returnees from Al-Hol Camp in Syria, the “Return with Hope” project was officially launched in partnership with the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) and with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The project aims to provide comprehensive support to over 9,000 Iraqi returnees through a package of essential services, including mental health care, psychosocial support, case management, as well as tailored educational and vocational programs that address the specific needs of this population. The goal is to reintegrate returnee families into society, particularly in Salah Al-Din Governorate.
The implementation contract was signed for the period from August 26, 2024, to December 31, 2025, with the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) designated to carry out the project activities over the course of 16 months. The signing ceremony was held virtually and attended by UIMS President Dr. Ahmed Al-Heeti along with several department heads.
As part of the implementation, Al-Amal Center was inaugurated on September 15, 2024, in Tikrit, Salah Al-Din Governorate, marking the beginning of field activities. Since its opening, the center has launched psychological support sessions, case follow-up for individuals still undergoing treatment, and a series of recreational and skill-building workshops in areas such as art and sewing, as part of a comprehensive effort to support returnees from Jadaa Camp and help them regain psychological and social stability.
The “Return with Hope” project represents a cornerstone in the path toward achieving stability and social cohesion in conflict-affected areas, by building a supportive environment that fosters trust and opens new opportunities for returnees to lead safer and more dignified lives.
