UIMS Description:

The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) is one of active civil organizations in Iraq, a non-governmental organization dealing with humanitarian, health, relief, development and charitable affairs, regardless of race, color, religion and cultural background. Officially registered with the Non-Governmental Organizations Directorate, General Secretariat for the Council of Ministers under the number (IZ1615).                                                                                

Since the establishment of our organization on 21/05/2003 and as a result of conditions experienced by Iraq, UIMS introduced a lot of humanitarian aids and contributed in support of health institutions with basic needs, medical supplies and medicines; supported families afflicted and affected from war and disasters

Shared in the process of rehabilitation of governmental hospitals and health centers, and the establishment of new health centers through their branches and offices in Iraq. UIMS was able to provide medical and relief assistance to refugees and IDPs all over Iraq. In addition to its outstanding work all over the last period, UIMS keen to expand its activities and efforts inside and outside Iraq. 

In addition, UIMS is an implementer partner with UNHCR, WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, OCHA, UNDP… etc.

Jobs and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, lead on the implementation of the project, with the aim of delivering high quality programming, which meets the needs of beneficiaries and the project goals

  • Description of general duties
  • Ensure gathering and dissemination of clear and reliable information on service provision and other pre-selected key topics related to project implementation
  • Contribute to developing and monitoring project activities.
  • Reviewing project work plans
  • Carrying out administrative tasks as required, e.g. provision of timesheets for project staff.
  • Ensure that all required support is provided promptly, at scale and in line with the rules and principles.
  • Work together with local government and local partners to facilitate and coordinate the program activities implementations, when required and under the supervision of line manager.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and/or as requested.
  • Coordination of communication between field and main Office staff.
  • Organizing trainings/meetings, including conference facilities, arranging accommodation for participants and trainings materials, consolidated minutes and circulates as appropriate.
  • Prepare additional reports/presentations/statistics as needed.
  • Disseminate and document success stories of program
  • Requests data from the field and MEAL and support consolidation of project activities data for internal/external reporting. The data will also inform implementation progress.
  • Regular site visits to the program implementing areas to follow program activities implementation.
  • Submit monthly and weekly activities progress report for program implementation
  • Support in the documentation process for program activities.
  • Maintain flexibility to take any other tasks could be required by the line to support UIMS overall programs.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree, B.S in engineering or science
  • At least one-year experience working on issues related to gender based violence or trauma rehabilitation.
  • A degree in social work or Health is a strongly desired
  • Good computer skills, especially in MSO (office, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Fluency in Arabic and English for conversation, note taking and reporting.

Resilience: 

Interested applicants should have a strong commitment to addressing women’s rights with cultural sensitivity, respect, and confidentiality. Moreover, flexibility, a sense of humour and willingness to challenge social norms is a plus.

Experience required:   1 year at minimum

Education degree:    Bachelor Degree as minimum

Language: fluent in English and good Arabic skills
