The seminar highlighted the campaign’s main objective of equipping government hospitals with incubators for premature and newborn infants, thereby strengthening the capacity of healthcare institutions, improving the quality of neonatal care, and supporting national efforts to reduce infant mortality during the earliest stages of life.

During the seminar, UIMS emphasized that “Their Pulse is Our Hope” is a national initiative built on partnership between government institutions and the community. The procurement of neonatal incubators is funded through donations made via the Super (Qi) donation platform, which has provided a pioneering model for utilizing digital transformation to support humanitarian work by converting citizens’ contributions into life-saving medical equipment for government hospitals.

The seminar also presented the project’s key achievements and the results accomplished during its first phase, in addition to discussing the future needs of healthcare institutions and mechanisms for expanding the initiative to include the largest possible number of hospitals across Baghdad and other governorates. These efforts are aimed at achieving the project’s strategic goal of providing 1,000 neonatal incubators throughout Iraq.

Participants praised the importance of the initiative and its role in strengthening integration between the healthcare sector and humanitarian action. They emphasized that providing modern neonatal incubators enhances the quality of intensive care services for premature and newborn infants, creates a safer treatment environment, and at the same time reduces the financial burden on Iraqi families.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the “Their Pulse is Our Hope” initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Health and its health directorates, and in cooperation with the Super (Qi) donation platform. The Society stressed that the success of this initiative reflects the strength of partnership among government institutions, the community, and donors in building a healthcare system that is better equipped to protect children’s lives. It further affirmed that every donation represents a new opportunity for an Iraqi child to begin life with greater hope and a safer future.

The event witnessed high-level participation, including representatives from the Ministry of Planning and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), along with a number of officials, decision-makers, development partners, and stakeholders. Discussions focused on key challenges and opportunities related to population issues, the importance of utilizing population data and indicators in shaping public policies, strengthening development planning, and investing in human capital to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The ceremony represented an important opportunity to review the project’s key achievements and contributions to enhancing the understanding of demographic trends and strengthening cooperation among government institutions, international organizations, and civil society organizations. These efforts contribute to developing more effective approaches to addressing future challenges and transforming them into opportunities for development.

The Society also expressed its appreciation to the United Kingdom Government, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health, and the Statistics Authority for their support and cooperation, which contributed to the successful implementation of the project and the achievement of its objectives. UIMS reaffirmed its readiness to continue collaborating with national and international partners on initiatives that serve Iraqi society and advance sustainable development pathways.

The meeting included discussions on mechanisms to support and implement three of the Society’s most prominent projects: *“Their Pulse is Our Hope”, which aims to equip hospitals with incubators for premature and newborn infants; *“Pride of Hope”*, which is concerned with providing wheelchairs and assistive devices for persons with disabilities and humanitarian cases; and *“The White Hand”**, which aims to provide humanitarian and medical support to the most vulnerable groups.

Both sides emphasized the importance of unifying efforts between government institutions and civil society organizations to enhance the response to health and humanitarian needs and expand qualitative initiatives that contribute to improving services provided to citizens, particularly the most vulnerable groups.

The meeting also resulted in an agreement to proceed towards signing a joint cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development, establishing a strategic partnership for implementing these projects and expanding their scope in a manner consistent with health and humanitarian priorities while strengthening integration between governmental and community efforts.

In this framework, the Society has equipped Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital in Al-Muthanna Governorate with an advanced Ultrasound device. This initiative is part of the “Healthcare Support Project,” executed in cooperation with the Ministry of Health / Al-Muthanna Health Directorate, and through the generous support of the Government of Japan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

This support comes as part of joint efforts aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services and elevating the efficiency of medical institutions, thereby contributing to improving citizens’ access to specialized medical care—particularly in fields related to maternal and child health, as well as essential diagnostic services.

The Unified Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) emphasized that supporting healthcare institutions represents a core pillar of its humanitarian and developmental programs, stemming from its firm belief in the importance of providing an integrated health environment that enhances the efficiency of medical services and improves the quality of care delivered to citizens.

Furthermore, the Society expressed its deep appreciation for the active partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Government of Japan, and the Iraqi Ministry of Health, which has successfully resulted in the implementation of numerous high-impact projects designed to reinforce the Iraqi healthcare system and empower medical facilities to deliver better services to beneficiaries.

The Unified Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) reaffirms its commitment to continuing its collaboration with local and international partners to implement further initiatives and projects that support the health sector, advance sustainable development, and achieve a positive, lasting impact on the lives of citizens throughout Iraq.

The agreement was signed in the presence of the Administrative Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Khamees Al-Saad, representing the Minister. The Ministry was represented in the signing by Dr. Raed Ali Taha, Director General of the Administrative, Financial and Legal Department, while the agreement was signed on behalf of UIMS by Dr. Ahmed Mushrif Al-Heeti, President of the Society, in the presence of Dr. Wissam Al-Tamimi, Director of the International Health Department, along with a number of Ministry officials and members of the Society’s delegation.

The agreement aims to strengthen joint cooperation in implementing a range of integrated health and social projects, including women’s protection programs, the promotion of reproductive health services, and the provision of modern medical equipment to hospitals and health centers, in addition to other health and development initiatives that contribute to supporting Iraq’s health system.

The agreement will remain in effect for five years, renewable, enhancing opportunities to further develop healthcare services and achieve sustainable development impact that positively benefits the community.

The event marked the culmination of efforts made throughout the project’s implementation period and reaffirmed the importance of effective partnerships in supporting local communities and strengthening social resilience.
