UIMS Meets with the Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs to Discuss Strengthening Cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
As part of its efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination with Iraqi state institutions, the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) held a meeting with H.E. Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs. The meeting addressed a number of humanitarian and development issues of mutual interest, particularly supporting national efforts to address the needs of displaced Iraqis and Iraqi returnees from European countries.
The meeting discussed the role that UIMS can play in supporting national efforts to assist returnees and facilitate their reintegration into their communities through the humanitarian, health, and development programs implemented by the Society, in alignment with national priorities and in support of greater complementarity between government institutions and civil society organizations.
UIMS also presented an overview of its work and humanitarian and development programs, as well as its status as a public benefit organization, reflecting its responsibility to utilize its capacities and expertise in serving communities and supporting the efforts of state institutions on humanitarian and social issues.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening channels of communication and institutional coordination, particularly on issues related to return, reintegration, and community stability, and discussed opportunities to benefit from UIMS’s expertise, partnerships, and programs in supporting relevant national responses.
The meeting comes as part of UIMS’s efforts to expand its partnerships with Iraqi government institutions and strengthen the role of civil society organizations as supportive partners in national efforts. These efforts contribute to protecting the dignity of citizens, promoting community stability, and transforming return from a mere geographical transition into a sustainable pathway toward reintegration and rebuilding the future.
