Continued Implementation of the Neonatal Incubator Support Project – Funded by the Central Bank of Iraq, the Government of Japan, and the National Donation Platform “Hatim”

The United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development (UIMS) continues the implementation of its national project to support public healthcare institutions with essential medical equipment and supplies. Launched earlier this year, the initiative is one of the most prominent health projects aimed at strengthening the infrastructure of Iraqi hospitals.
As part of the project, UIMS has started the delivery of 1,000 neonatal incubators across Iraq based on the needs identified by the Ministry of Health.
So far, the following distributions have been completed:
• 18 incubators in Al-Anbar Governorate (Ramadi and Al-Qa’im)
• 2 incubators in Al-Diwaniyah Governorate
• 2 incubators in Nineveh Governorate / Sinjar District
• 9 incubators in Kirkuk Governorate / Hawija District
The project is being implemented with the support of the Central Bank of Iraq, the Government of Japan, and in partnership with Hatim, UIMS’s National Donation Platform. It is also carried out in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health in the Kurdistan Region, the health directorates across all governorates, and with participation from the private sector in Iraq.
The project aims to:
• Equip hospitals with modern and advanced neonatal incubators
• Train medical staff on the proper use and maintenance of the incubators
• Provide necessary spare parts to ensure continuous operation
Neonatal incubators are a vital component in the care of premature and underweight newborns, providing a safe environment that significantly increases their chances of survival, supports healthy development, and helps reduce neonatal mortality rates.
