World Anti-Tobacco Day

Under the slogan (Tobacco threatens the environment), the Iraqi Ministry of Health – Public Health Department, in cooperation with our organization (The United Iraqi Medical Society Organization for Relief and Development-UIMS) , celebrates the World Anti-Tobacco Day, in a speech by Dr. Riyad AL-Hilfy ,The General Director of The Public Health Department , he said that the number of smokers in Iraq and the enactment of laws related to the import of cigarettes, Dr. Riyad Al-Hailfy also praised the role of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development in supporting the important programs in the Ministry of Health and for many years, for his part, Dr. Ahmed Mushrif Al-Heety, The President of the United Iraqi Medical Society for Relief and Development, expressed the support provided by the Iraqi Ministry of Health to our organization, and also announced the launch of the (United Against Tobacco) project, which is implemented by UIMS in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Health and the concerned governorates, and with funding by Global Health Development | Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (GHD|EMPHNET). It will to publish awareness messages about the harmful effects of smoking and urge to abstain from it through audio-visual media and social media. Awareness posters will also be published at the entrances to all governorates of Iraq.
